Squirrel The Poodle

I rescued Squirrel, a standard poodle, from the PWC Animal Shelter back in September 2024 when she was just 3 months old. She was found as a stray, so when I brought her home, she had a lot of anxiety issues! She was scared to get in and out of the car, she followed me everywhere around the house, and she would destroy things, and she HATED being crated, just to name a few. I had just become an empty-nester and had some temporary health issues and quickly started to regret my decision to adopt.

I remembered that someone had brought her Rottweiler to the gym one day and that he was so well behaved, even holding his own leash! I reached back to her to get the name of her dog trainers and immediately set up a consultation with G&S Dog Training.  At 4 months old, Squirrel started her 2 week board-to-train. Even after that first two weeks, I could see a tremendous change! She was more confident, she was entering and exiting the car with ease, she didn’t follow me around the house as much and she entered and exited the crate on command! We have been diligent in doing our weekly homework and just finished our remaining lessons. I have been able to see Squirrel’s goofy personality develop as she learned her commands and boundaries and can tell that she’s much smarter than I originally anticipated. We’ve even done a couple of road trips, and I didn’t have to worry about her acting out at the hotel or other people’s homes! She’s only 8 months old now but we’re going to continue with additional training to become a service dog so that I can take her everywhere! I really enjoy having her around now, thanks to G&S Dog Training! I can’t say enough about how wonderful George & Sarai are as trainers! They are friendly, patient and always make you feel like family and bring out the full potential of your dog!
